On 9th April, work commenced on the redevelopment of the Community Centre and Temple. The foundation stone-laying ceremony was performed by Pujya Krishna Shankar Shastri with Manubhai Madhvani and Dr. L.M. Shinghvi – High Commissioner of India.
A steel cage held the shrine of Lord Krishna and Shiva with access specially built so that worship by the Pujari could be continued. Worship and service of the deities continued in this manner for 22 months, From April 1998 to November 1999.
