Community Centre and Redevelopment Project

Between 1994 and 1995 the Meditation Associates, Manchester, carried out three feasibility studies Community Technical Association and Michael Wood. In 1995 NJSR Architects were appointed as the architect for the project, their brief was to prepare the most economical and well structured design to meet the society's needs for the Millennium. Yogesh Luher acted as an intermediary. In October 1996 Enterprise PLC were appointed to submit an application to the Millennium Commission on behalf of the Gujarat Hindu Society. In December the Millennium Commission notified the society to proceed to the second stage. A twenty-page application was submitted in February 1997. At this stage the cost of the scheme was £2.28 million. Between March and October a number of sites the appraisal team made visits. In May 1997 Lord Delkeith on of the Millennium Commission's board members visited the site.
