Gujarati Language Teaching
Gujarati teaching was started as early as 1965.
Children are taught Gujarati, which is the mother tongue of the
majority of the Society’s members, once a week over 45 sessions per
year. Children are admitted to the class at the age of 7 and study for
approximately 5 to 6 years. They are able to sit the Gujarati GCSE
examination at the Centre.
The Society is a registered examination centre for Gujarati Language
for OCR. Teachers are all volunteers who are paid a small remuneration
for their time. They are offered teacher training. The new Centre
provides modern classroom environment. At any one time, there are 200
plus students who attend the Gujarati classes.
