Community Welfare

The Gujarat Hindu Society helps to promote community welfare through a wide variety of activities, projects and events.

To assist and engage with more elderly members of the community, GHS hosts a regular luncheon club, which runs every Monday and Friday and affords a chance for people to meet and socialise. The older members have been meeting at the centre on regular basis ever since the centre opened in 1975.They often organise outings to different temples as well as other recreational places around the UK.

The older persons group has also established links with the Age Concern centre in Preston and recently introduced indoor bowling as a fun activity that promotes fitness and mobility.

Activities aimed at women have been developed over a number of years. These include aerobics, Yoga classes, Gujarati classes for adults, dance classes, swimming, sewing classes, English as second language and many others.

The GHS Centre also hosts a variety of health-related initiatives including healthy living courses and the annual Health Mela.
